Reactions of Ferrocenecarboxaldehyde with Compounds Containing Active Methylene Group in Aqueous Solution

Ferrocenylmethylene containing ketones were achievedby the reactions of ferrocenecarboxaldehyde with compoundscontaining active methylene group, such as barbituric acid (2a), thiobarbituric acid (2b), 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane-4,6-dione (2c), 3-methyl-1-phenyl-2-pyrazoline-5-one (2d), ethyl cyanoacetate (2e), 2,4-pentandione (2f), cyclohexanone (2g) and cyclopentanone (2h) in aqueous solution with good yields. The structures of products were confirmed by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, IR spectra and elemental analysis.
