The reaction. mechanisms of Ph3P and (C2H5O)3P with S8 were studied by mass spectrometer and gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer. A previously reported (P. D. Bartlett et al., 1956) mechanism of the Ph3P-S8 reaction. was supported and a possible mechanism for the Ph3P-S8 and (C2H5O)3P-S8 reaction. is tested and verified.
