The enantioselective catalysis of the complexes of titanium with sulfonylamino acids in the Diels-Alder reaction

Titanium complexes derived from N-tosyl-L-valine, N-tosyl-L- phenylalanine, N-tosyl-L-leucine, N-tosyl-L-iso-leucine, N-tosyl-L- proline, N-(1-Naphthalenesulfonyl)-L-valine, N-(1-naphthalenesulfonyl) -L-phenyl-alanine, N-(1-naphthalenesulfonyl)-L-leucine and N-(1- naphthalenesulfonyl)-L-iso-leucine were prepared and used as catalysts for the Diels-Alder reaction of cyclopentadiene with methyl acrylate. The titanium complexes showed good enantioselectivity and excellent diastereoselectivity.
