Microwave Irradiation Induced Synthesis of 2-Amino-4,6-diarylpyridines

Abstract

Under microwave irradiation, N-cyanomethylpyridinium chloride (1) reacted with chalcone (2) in the presence of ammonium acetate and acetic acid to give 2-amino-4,6-diarylpyridines (5a～5c) in high yields. Compounds 5a～5i can also be prepared from one-pot reactions of 1 with aromatic aldehydes (3) and substituted acetophenones (4). The structures of the products were characterized with ¹H NMR, IR and HPLC-MS spectra.
