Amorphous Nanowires Produced by Carbon Ion Irradiation on Multi- walled Carbon Nanotubes

利用40keV的c~+离子辐照(辐照剂量为1×10~16/cm~2)CVD合成的多壁碳纳 米管样(HRTEM)分析时发现了一些有趣现象:其一,多壁碳纳米管在辐照时,其 结构不但无定形化,而且有无定形纳米线和的相互转变区出现;其二,辐照可以使 交叉的碳纳米线产生"焊接"现象.对这些现象产生的机制给出了定性的讨论.

After being irradiated by carbon ions with the energy of 40 keV at the fluence of 10~(16)/cm~(-2) , many of multi-walled carbon nanotubes evolved into amorphous carbon nanowires and amorphous nanotubes. In some irradiated nanotubes, it can be found that transition areas of amorphous nanotubes and amorphous nanowires coexist. Moreover, during this evolving process, some crossed nanotubes were welded together, and these welded junctions may have great applications in nanotube/molecular electronics. Meanwhile, the mechanism on the appearance of this phenomenon was also discussed qualitatively.
