S-Nitrosoglutathione (GSNO) exhibits inhibition effect on linoleic acid peroxidation and on styrene polymerization, using 2,2'- azobisisbutylnitrile (AIBN) as the initiator. Heating a solution of GSNO and AIBN in DMSO under argon produced an EPR signal, which was attributed to glutathiyl 2-cyano-2-propyl aminoxyl radical by comparison with the EPR spectrum obtained with a solution of NO and AIBN under the same experimental conditions. The results suggested that GSNO was converted to an aminoxyl radical and acted as such in the inhibition experiments.
