This paper summarizes the recent research work on trinuclear molybdenum clusters, including those published in literatures and results obtained by the authors. The first part of it is concerned with the methods used to synthesize the cluster compounds. The second part describes the different types of the configurations of trinuclear Mo clusters. The third part is analyses the bonding characteristics of the metal-metal bonds for three main types of structure skeletons by the quantum chemistry method. On this basis, some main properties are given.
