Chemical constituents of the essential oil from zingiber officinale rose of sichuan

By gas chromatog. and mass spectrometry 42 constituents were identified from the essential oil of Z. officinale rhizomes produced in Yibin province (China). The main constituents were: b-phellandrene (10.67%), a-zingiberene (44.26%), b-santalol (16.20%), b-bisabolene (10.51%), a-curcumene (1.94%), zingiberol (0.29%). E-Nerolidol, b-eudesmol, Z-nerolidol, farnesol, elemol, and the micro antibiotic constituents: perillaldehyde, neral, and geranial were also detected. The essential oil is used as food-flavoring agent and in cosmetics.
