A series of 5-aryl-1,5,6,7,8,9-hexahydro-2H-pyrazolo[5,4-b]quinolin-6-one dervatives were synthesized by the three component one-pot reaction of 5-amino-3-methyl-1-phenypyrazole with aromatic aldehydes and dimedone or 1,3-cyclohexanedione under microwave irradiation using glycol as energy trans-fer agent. This method has the advantage of excellent yields (88%~98%), short reaction time (30~90 s) and being environmental friendliness. The structures of the products were identified by IR, NMR spectra, elemental analysis and X-ray crystallograghic of 4e.
