Progress in the Synthesis of Nitrogen-containing Heterocycles by In-tramolecular Cyclization of Alkynes

Intramolecular cyclization between alkynes and nitrogen atom is one of the most important routes for the synthesis of nitrogen-containing heterocycles. This paper reviews recent advance in the intramolecular cyclization reactions of nitrogen with alkynes including transition metal-catalyzed intramolecular cyclization reactions and intramolecular electrophilic cyclization reactions. Moreover, mechanisms of the cyclization reactions are also described in detail.
