One-pot multicomponent coupling reaction of aldehydes with 2-naphthols and thiosemicarbazide (molar ratio: 2∶1∶1) is reported for the synthesis of 4-thiosemicarbazono-alkyl-2-naphthols using NH₄Cl as an efficient catalyst in CHCl₃ at room temperature. A series of thiosemicarbazonoalkyl naphthols have been synthesised in moderate to good yields. Their structures have been determined by ¹H NMR, IR, MS techniques and elemental analysis.
