Synthesis of 2-substituted-4(5)-alkoxyimidazoles

Et N-cyanomethylimidates reacted with alcs. to give 2-substituted-4(5)-alkoxyimidazoles in the presence of sodium alkoxide or K2CO3. The yield varies from 52 to 87%. Eight Et N-cyanomethylimidates and fifteen imidazole derivatives were synthesized.
