Abstract

A series of 4-aryl-3-methyl-6-oxo-1-phenyl-4,5,6,7-tetrahydropyrido[2,3-c]pyrazoles were synthesized by one-step condensation of arylaldehydes with meldrum acid and 5-amino-3-methyl-1-phenyl- pyrazole under microwave irradiation. The reaction was completed in 2～6 min with good yields. All the products were characterized by IR, ¹H NMR spectra and elemental analysis, and 4c was determined by the X-ray diffraction analysis.
