Yb(OTf)3 Catalyzed Knoevenagel Reaction of Me-thylene Compounds with Aldehydes under Solvent-free Condition

Yb(OTf)3 catalyzed efficiently Knoevenagel condensation of active methylene compounds with various aldehydes under solvent free condition was described as a method for preparation of substituted olefins. The process is operationally simple, environmentally benign and has excellent yield without any side reactions. Furthermore, the catalyst could be recovered conveniently and reused efficiently.
