Synthesis of New Schiff Base Macrocyclic Compounds

Abstract

o-Phenylenediamine reacted with a series of α,ω-bis(3'-hydroxy-4'-formylphenyloxy) alkanes to yield new macrocyclic Schiff base compounds (Lⁿ), using Mn^2＋ or Ba^2＋as a template. The complex compounds have been solved by Na₂SO₄ solution and become free ligands. The structures of new macrocyclic compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, UV-vis spectrophotometry, ¹H NMR, IR and MS spectra.
