Synthesis and Bioactivities of Novel Thiazole Amide Derivatives Containing a 2-Substituted-1,3-thiazolidine Ring

In order to find novel thiazole-heterocycle lead compounds, nineteen new thiazole amides 4 containing 2-substituted-1,3-thiazolidine were synthesized from a condensation reaction of 2-cyanoimino-3- (2-aminothiazol-4-ylmethyl)thiazolidine with substituted benzoyl chlorides (or acetyl chloride). The structures of these compounds were confirmed by 1H NMR spectra and elemental analysis. The structure of 4s was further characterized by MS technique. The structure of 4a was also determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. Biological activities of the title compounds was tested, and some compounds displayed certain fungicidal and plant growth regulatory activities.
