  The copper-catalyzed reaction of aryldiazoacetates with bis((pinacolato)boryl)methane leading to the construction of C(sp³)—C(sp³) bond is reported by Bao, Li and Wang on page 1808. The reaction involves copper carbene migratory insertion into the BpinCH₂—Cu bond. Oxidizing coupling the boronate products affords β-hydroxy esters. This transformation represents a formal hydroxymethylation of aryldiazoacetates.
