The title complex was synthesized by the reaction of the ligand, IDB [IDB=N,N-di(2-benzimi- dazolylmethyl) imine], with NiSO4•6H2O in ethanol and methanol, and its crystal structure has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The nickel(II) atom, owning a distorted octahedral coordination geometry, is six-coordinated by four nitrogen atoms of benzimidazole groups and two amine nitrogen atoms from IDB. The effect of gold nanoparticles and ctDNA on fluorescence of the title complex was studied. The related mechanism about fluorescence recovery and fluorescence-quenching was discussed.
