Synthesis and Herbicidal Activities of Novel Cyanoacrylate Derivatives Containing Substituted Pyrimidine Moiety

In search of novel cyanoacrylate compounds with potent bioactivity, a series of new cyanoacrylates bearing substituted pyrimidine moiety were obtained by the method of active substructure combination. The title compounds were structurally confirmed by 1H NMR, 13C NMR and elemental analysis. Preliminary bioassay data indicated that some target compounds showed good herbicidal activities. In postemergence treatment, compounds 9a and 9b had 90% and 100% herbicidal activity against Brassica juncea at 1500 g/ha, compounds 9a and 9b showed 90% and 100% herbicidal activity against Stellaria media at 1500 g/ha, and compounds 9a and 9b displayed 95% and 100% inhibitory rates against Chenopodium serotinum L. at 1500 g/ha. When the dosage was reduced to 750 g/ha, compound 9b exhibited all 100% herbicidal effect against Brassica juncea, Stellaria media, and Chenopodium serotinum L. in postemergence treatment. Even at 375 g/ha, compound 9b was still active against Brassica juncea, Stellaria media, and Chenopodium serotinum L. in postemergence treatment with the inhibition rates of 90%, 80% and 90%, respectively.
