5,6-取代环烯醚在乙腈的单重态氧反应有效的生成─系列1,4位官能化化合物。1,4位官能化化合物为合成上重要的中间体。环烯醚可以通过β-二酰基化合物和1,3-二溴丙烷在稀碱(碳酸钾/丙酮)条件下缩合生成。

1,4-Difunctionalized compounds RCO2(CH2)3COCOR1 (R = Me, R1 = OEt, Me, Ph; R = Ph, R1 = OEt, Me) were prepared by singlet oxygenation of cyclic vinyl ethers I. I were prepared by the cyclization of RCOCH2COR1 with Br(CH2)3Br in acetone containing K2CO3.
