The addition reactions of fluoroalkyl iodides with olefines in a system of hexamethyldisiloxane and sodium methoxide was investigated. The reaction afforded fluoroalkyl olefines in good yields. Addition of p-dinitrobenzene or hydroquinone depressed the reaction significantly. Allyl ether reacted with Cl(CF2)n I in this system to give THF derivatives I. All the results indicate that an electron transfer process might be involved.
