Abstract

Syntheses of b-(2'-norbornen-5'-yl) a,b-unsatd. ketones and aldehydes by the condensation of 5-norbornene-2-carboxaldehyde with appropriate aliphatic ketones and aldehydes in the presence of PTC have been studied. 18-Crown-6, quaternary ammonium salts, and PEG showed good catalytic activity.
