Orthogonal test in preparation of polyalkylindans

musk perfumes. An orthogonal test showed that the optimal conditions for the preparation of I are 00, 3.5 h reaction time, 10% AlCl3, and reactants in a molar ratio 1:1.8. The products under the optimal condition are I 36.8% and 1,1,3,5-tetramethyl-3-ethylindan, 11.7% (relative to p-cymene).
