Abstract

Acetalization of bicyclooctenecarboxaldehyde I with HOZOH [Z = CH2CH2, CH2CHMe, CHMeCHMe, (CH2)3, (CH2)4, CH2CH2CHMe, CH2CH:CHCH2] and p-toluenesulfonic acid gave acetals II. Hydrogenation of which gave acetals III. Fragmentation pathway in mass spectra of II and III were determine Odor of II and III were evaluated and the structure-odor relationship was briefly discussed.
