[N(Bu)~4]Br or FeCl~3-PEG-400 was used as a phase-transfer catalyst to the nucleophilic substitution reaction of α-chloroalkyl alkyl ethers with anhydrous sodium acetate (or anhydrous sodium formate), the yield has increased by 10% . The structures of the intermediates and the products were confirmed by IR, NMR and elementary analysis.
