Synthesis and Characterization of Di(2-pyridyloxy) Axially Substituted Tetra-(α-pentyloxy)tin(IV) Phthalocyanine

3-Pentoxyphthalonitrile (1) was synthesized by using 3-nitrophthalonitrile as raw material. Dichloro-tetra-(α-pentyloxy)tin(IV) phthalocyanine (2) was prepared by condensation of 1 with TiCl4 in 1-chloronaphthalene. A novel axially substituted tin phthalocyanine, namely di(2-pyridyloxy) axially substituted tetra-(α-pentyloxy)tin(IV) phthalocyanine (3) was synthesized by reaction of 2 with 2-hydroxypyridine. The above complexes were characterized by the elemental analysis, UV/Vis, IR, MS, 1H NMR spectra as well as fluorescence spectroscopy.
