Studies on the Oxidation of Oleanane Dienone

Oleanane dienone 7 was synthesized conveniently from oleanolic acid (OA), and then oxidized with different oxidants. Actually, single-isomer chiral decalin synthons of the AB and DE-rings of OA were obtained by stereospecific oxidation of dienone with H₂O₂/HCOOH. All the products were characterized by IR, MS, ¹H NMR and ¹³C NMR techniques.
