Abstract

Stirring Ph3M+CH-COMe (M = P, As) with RCYCCO2Me (R = CF3, C2F5, C3F7) in benzene at room temperature gave 90-95% adducts Ph3M+C-(CO2Me)CR:CHCOMe (I). Hydrolysis of I (M = As) in MeOH-H2O gave pyrones II, and (Z)-, and (E)-MeCOCH:CRCH2CO2Me.
