Abstract

Methyl 3-(2-benzo[b]furoyl)azulene-1-carboxylate derivatives were synthesized by the condensation of methyl 3-(bromoacetyl)azulene-1carboxylate with salicylaldehydes under mild conditions with excellent yields. The bromination conditions of methyl 3-acetylazulene-1-carboxylate with phenyltrimethylammonium perbromide were discussed. All the compounds were fully characterized by ¹H NMR, IR spectra and elemental analysis.
