Abstract

The asym. synthesis of (R)-a-substituted benzylamines I (R = Me, Me2CH, 4-MeOC6H4CH2, PhCH2, cyclohexyl) were prepared with optical yields of 76~100% via the alkylation of a new chiral template II. The combined effect of the steric inhibition and chelation of the chiral template has been suggested to account for the stereochem. of the reaction.
