Review on the Application of Carbohydrates and Their Derivatives as Chiral Auxiliaries in Stereoselective Synthesis

Carbohydrate, with multi-functional groups and chiral centers in one small molecule, is inexpensive and can be converted into efficient chiral auxiliary for controlling asymmetric synthesis. The paper reviews recent progress of the application of carbohydrates as chiral auxiliaries in asymmetric synthesis including the construction of C—C bond, epoxidation, chiral resolution, chiral recognition, and etc.
