Synthesis of isosqurarylium amides containing N'-substituted sufamoyl phenyl and carboxy phenyl groups

Abstract

Fourteen new asymmetric substituted isosqurarylium amides were successfully obtained by the reaction of 3-[ortho-(or para-) carboxy anilino]-4-hydroxy-3-cyclo- butenedione with some sulfanilamides. The common marked characteristic of the structure of these compounds 3a～3f and 4a～4f is that the structure units with medicinal effective sulfanilamide and ortho- (or para-) benzaminic acid existed in the same molecule through the bridging of the tetracarbon ring of squaric acid.
