(Benzo[b]furan-2-oyl)ferrocene derivatives 2a～2n were synthesized via Williamson reaction and Knoevenagel reaction between 1-chloroacetylferrocene and salicylaldehyde or substituted salicylaldehydes in a one-pot procedure with PEG-400 as phase transfer catalyst under mild conditions in 40.2%～70.0% yields. All the new compounds 2a～2n containing ferrocene and benzofuran backbones were fully characterized by IR, 1H NMR, MS techniques and elemental analysis.
