Synthesis and Bioactivity of N-(Fatty acid)-O-aryloxyacetyl- ethanolamine

N-Fatty acyl ethanolamine (NAE), a minor, endogenous constituent in plant, is a kind of fatty amines with high bioactivity. To make up for its solubility deficiency and improve its bioactivity, this paper combined aryloxyacetic acids and NAE into the same molecule and prepared a series of N-(fatty acyl) - O-aryloxyacetyl-ethanolamines and tested their bioactivities. Comparing with the mother compound, most title compounds have better bioactivities for stimulating the hypocotyls elongation of rape. The bioactivities of title compounds bearing substituent benzene ring are better than that of those with unsubstituted benzene ring. Especially the chloro-substituted benzene derivatives have the comparable activities with the conventional plant growth regulator 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid.
