4-Dimethylaminobenzaldehyde 2,4-dinitrophenyl hydrazone was achieved by the condensation of 4-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde with 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine. The structure of the title compound wascharacterized by IR, UV and elemental analysis. X-Ray diffraction analysis shows that it has a big planar structure, and the maximum deviation from this planeis 0.00351(2) nm for atom N(2). The inter- and intra-molecular hydrogen bonds jointhe molecules forming a zigzag chain along the c-axis. A π-π^* stackinginteraction is found in the crystal.
