Electrocatalysis on electrochemically pretreated glassy carbon electrode

The surface structure of glassy C electrode subjected to "galvanostat" pretreatment and its electrocatalytic behavior in the presence of ascorbic acid, catechol and hydroquinone were studied by means of cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry, chronocoulometry and SEM. The electrocatalytic mechanism is discussed, which was due to the adsorption and the catalysis of functional groups at the electrode surface. Three separated peaks from the mixture of catechol, hydroquinone and ascorbic acid appeared on the electrochem. pretreated electrode which might be useful for biochem. anal. of these compounds
