Self-assembly and Emulsification Behavior of Photo-sensitive P(St/CS-alt-MA) Copolymer

A new amphiphilic alternating copolymer P(St/CS-alt-MA) was prepared through free radical copolymerization. The copolymer structure was examined by GPC and 1H NMR. The amphiphilic copolymer could aggregate into nanoparticles in selective solution. The micellization and the critical water content (CWC) of P(St/CS-alt-MA) in deionized water were monitored by UV-Vis spectroscopy. The diameters and morphologies of the particles were examined by TEM and XPS. The results show that hydrophilic units are enriched on the surface of the colloid particle and such amphiphilic colloid particles are of efficient emulsification properties.
