Studies of p-Hydroxy Pentiptycene Diazonium Salts and Their Replacement Reactions

p-Aminopentiptycene phenol was formed by treating pentiptycene quinone through oxidation and hydrogenation. p-Pentiptycene phenol diazonium salts were synthesized by diazotization of p-amino- pentiptycene phenol with t-BuONO under acidity conditions. Their halides were obtained by Sandmeyer re-actions. The structures of all compounds were characterized by IR, FAB-MS, and NMR techniques.
