Abstract

The title monomer was prepared by the following route: in H2O-MeCN, perfluoro-3,6-dioxa-4-methyl-D7-octylsulfonyl fluoride was reduced with Na2SO3 to give Na perfluoro-4-methyl-3,6-dioxa-D7-octyl sulfinate, which was converted to 8-iodoperfluoro-5-methyl-3,6-dioxaoctene-1 (I) by reaction with iodine and KI in water, and I was deiodinated and carboxylated with Zn powder and CO2 in DMF followed by esterification with MeOH and H2SO4. FO2SCF2CF2OCF2CF2I and FO2SCF2CF2O(CF2)4I could also be deiodinated and carboxylated under the same conditions as I.
