Abstract

The surface chemical properties of various kinds of surfactants (including cations, anionic, nonionic and cationic surfactants) in mixed fatty alcohol/water solvents were investigated. In different surfactant systems, short fatty alcohol content influences the Υcmc differently. It is found that the varying tendency of Υcmc induced by short fatty alcohol addition can be predicted from their saturation adsorption and Υcmc values in water, rather than the types of surfactants.
