Abstract

A novel type of photoresponsive azo-molecular clefts has been designed and synthesized by using azo-group as spacer and methyl ester of amino acids as arm. Their structures were characterized by ¹H NMR, IR, MS spectra and elemental analysis. Their recognition properties for methyl esters of amino acids were investigated. The preliminary results indicate that the cis-form showed good enantio-selectivity for D/L-amino acid methyl esters on irradiation at 310 nm.
