A series of new poly-substituted pyridines were synthesized under microwave starting from benzimidazole-chalcone and pyridinium salt in the mixture of ammonium acetic acid and glacial acetic acid. The coordination of representative compounds with different metal ions was also made. All the structures of as-prepared ligands and complexes were characterized by IR, UV, ¹H NMR, ¹³C NMR spectra, etc. A single crystal structure of complex was determined by an X-ray diffraction method.
