A Simple Method for Preparing 2,6-Diamino-3,5-dinitropyridine-1-oxide

A simple synthetic method of 2,6-diamino-3,5-dinitropyridine-1-oxide (DADNP-1-O) was described. DADNP-1-O was synthesized using 2,6-diaminopyridine as a starting material in three steps including acidification, nitration and N-oxidation with a total yield of above 90%. The structures of intermediates and DADNP-1-O were determined by IR , 1H NMR, 13C NMR, HPLC, DSC and elemental analysis.
