Study on Synthesis and Spectral Properties of Porphyrin-salen Compounds

Three salen compounds: salen-OH, Cl-salen-OH and t-Bu-salen-OH with hydroxyl group were synthesized. By salen-OH and t-Bu-salen-OH with 5,10,15-triphenyl-20-mesohydroxylphenylporphyrin (HPTPP) as a starting material, respectively, a series of novel porphyrin-salen compounds: HPC6S (1), HPC10S (2), HPC6S' (3) and HPC10S' (4) and their corresponding zinc(II) porphyrin-salen complexes: ZnPC6S (Zn-1), ZnPC10S (Zn-2), ZnPC6S' (Zn-3), ZnPC10S' (Zn-4) were synthesized and char-acterized by elemental analysis, FTIR, 1H NMR and UV-Vis spectra, where P denotes porphy-rin, S means salen and S' indicates t-Bu-salen.
