p-tert-Butylthiacalix[4]arene (1) was firstly alkylated with methyl iodide or dibromoalkane with the aid of potassium carbonate to obtain thiacalix[4]arene 2～4, respectively. And the sequent reaction of thiacalix[4]arene intermediates 2 or 4 with 2-mercapto-benzoxazole in the presence of potassium carbonate afforded a series of p-tert-butylthiacalix[4]arenas 5a～5d bearing a benzoxazole group in good yields. All novel compounds were characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, IR, MS and elemental analysis. Meanwhile, the structure of thiacalix[4]arene 5b was identified by X-ray diffraction analysis.
