  A visible light-assisted photocatalyst-free protocol for the efficient synthesis of sulfonylated oxindoles under mild condition is reported by Wu, Zhao, Ji and Huang on page 4324. Simple and readily available N-arylacrylamides and sodium sulfinates were assembled with features including high yields, gram-scalable, no requirement of transition metal, and excellent functional group tolerance.

  According to the near and far aryl, heteroaryl, imine, cyano, acyl, alkynyl, alkenyl and other functional groups involved migration driven by photocatalysis, the alkenes difunctionalization reactions are classified, and some reaction scopes, limitations and mechanisms are discussed by Li, Zhao and Sun on page 4152.

  The synthesis of 3-acetal quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones via visible-light-mediated 4CzIPN catalyzed decarboxylic acetalation of quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones with glyoxylic acid acetalde is reported by Zhang, Nan, Zhao and Wei on page 4315. This reaction provides a green and efficient approach to construct a series of 3-acetal quinoxalin- 2(1H)-ones by using of air as the oxidant at room temperature, which has the advantages of clean source of energy, mild conditions, metal-free and green oxidant.

The C-H functionalization of 2-aryl-2H-indazoles at the C-3 position enabled by photochemical/electrochemical strategies in recent years is summarized in terms of catalytic systems by Wang, Wang, Ma, Jiang, and Yu on page 4024.
