The sensitizers cis-Ru(bpy)~2(CN)~2 and trans-Ru(py)~4(CN)~2 had been applied to influence the photoluminescence (PL) of the chemically oxidized porous silicon (PS) by attaching them on the surface of the nanoparticles in the PS layers. The PL properties including the peak energy, the decay time and the intensity were affected by the adsorption of cis-Ru(bpy)~2(CN)~2, but not by that of trans-Ru(py)~4(CN)~2. By comparing the chemical and photo-physical properties of cis-Ru(bpy)~2(CN)~2 with those of trans-Ru(py)~4(CN)~2 we deduced that it was the energy transfer between the oxidized PS and the adsorbed cis-Ru(bpy)~2(CN)~2 that induced the change of the PL properties. Although the PL efficiency was decreased, the peak energy could be changed in some degree and the decay time of the PL was shortened. The results clew a possibility for the change of the PL properties of the oxidized PS by an energy transfer process. It also helps to understand the mechanism of the PL.
