Synthesis of 4'-N-alkyl(aryl) aminomethyl benzo-18-crown-6 and polymer-and silica-supported crown ethers

Abstract

This paper describes the syntheses of new crown ethers 4'-N-alkyl and 4'-N-aryl aminomethyl benzo-18-crown-6 and the preparation of polymer- and silica-supported crown ethers. These supported crown ethers can be used as phase transfer catalysts, the activities of which in catalyzing the substitution reactions of n-octyl bromide with sodium cyanide, potassium cyanide and potassium acetate are greater than that of polymer-supported benzo-15-crown-5(1).
