Synthesis of 5-(2-Methyl/trifluoromethyl-benzimidazol-1-ylmethyl)-3-[p-(un)substituted phenyl]-2H-1',2',4'-triazolo[3,4-b]-1

A series of novel 1,2,4-triazolo[3,4-b]-1',3',4'-thiadiazine derivatives 4a4e and 5a5e were synthesized by the reaction of 1-amino-2-(2-methyl/trifluoromethyl-benzimidazol-1-ylmethyl)-5-mercapto- 1,3,4-triazole with α-bromoacetophenones 3a3e under microwave irradiation or heating. After comparison, it was found that the microwave irradiation process had many advantages of shorter time, higher yield and less secondary reaction. The structures of all the new compounds were confirmed by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR and MS spectra.
