Abstract

The title compounds (I; R = H, Me, Et, Cl, Br, OMe, OH, NMe2, NO2) were prepared by cyclocondensation of indolium salt II with benzylidenecyclohexanones III. The electronic absorption and fluorescence spectra, Stokes shifts, and some 1H NMR signals of I were measured, and linear relations with substituent constants were obtained.
